MEET LAUREN

Lauren Ayers was born and raised in Winter Park, Florida. She attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, and then the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Following graduation, she lived in Charleston before returning to Central Florida and marrying her husband, Dave. They are now raising their two daughters, Carson and Annie, here.

An interior decorator for 16 years, Lauren operated Ayers Davis Interiors with her sister Lise Davis for over a decade. They specialized in full-service residential decorating with a focus on complete home or room design. Lise went on to pursue a new passion and opened up a shop, while Lauren maintained her focus on interior design. Fortunately, the sisters still work together: Lauren Ayers Interiors is inside the same storefront as Hunt and Hostess!

Beyond that, decorating is in her blood. Her mother was a successful interior decorator in Winter Park for over three decades, while her late father heavily inspired her client relations and work ethic.

How do you describe your personal decorating style?
Clean and coastal with a focus on white, blush, and sand tones. I love to mix new, found, and handed-down furnishings together for a one-of-a-kind look.

What is your favorite room to decorate?
I love the dining room! Everything has a place, so it always looks beautiful. I also enjoy the opportunity to source the most stunning light fixtures and have fun with wallcoverings and draperies.

How do you approach a new project?
It’s important that I really grasp a client’s lifestyle and preferences and translate that into my decorating, allowing them to truly feel at home in their space. I also emphasize budgets in our initial meetings to ensure that we’re all on the same page as we prioritize and create beautiful interiors.

MEET KIM

Junior Designer

Kim Lummus is a native Floridian, growing up in Miami and eventually settling in Winter Park in 2009. She attended Samford University and Auburn University for her undergraduate degree and received a Masters degree from Tufts University. She lives with her husband of 20 years, Jim; son Jackson; and daughter Landry in Maitland.

Kim joined Ayers Davis Interiors in 2022 as a Junior Designer, allowing her to explore her true passion for interior design. As a child, you could find Kim rearranging her bedroom, looking through fabric and paint swatches, and dreaming of beautiful color palettes.

Over the last two decades, she has designed every detail of her family's numerous personal homes, often prompting guests to tell her she should pursue interior design as a profession. Her love for design runs deep, and she feels truly privileged to use her skill set to help individuals and families achieve beautiful, timeless, and comfortable spaces.

How do you describe your personal decorating style?
My decorating style is influenced by all things coastal with a touch of modern simplicity. Whites and blues, along with soft colors and textures, are at the heart of my home and personal style.

What is your favorite room to decorate?
My favorite room to decorate is the primary family living space, as it sets the tone and style of the rest of the home. It’s a great space to achieve comfortable beauty.

How do you approach a new project?
In order to get a sense of the client's style goals and way of living, I approach each new project with a listening ear and a focused eye. I put a big emphasis on gaining the trust of the client, which is critical for the design process. Ultimately, my goal is to bring out the best elements of the client's home by optimizing the layout and selecting colors, textures, and accessories that make the client fall in love with their space.
